Everton takeover: Dan Friedkin to provide cash injection soon – Stefan Borson

Everton prospective owner Dan Friedkin could put money into the club over the next few weeks to help with their cash-flow issues.

That is the view of finance expert Stefan Borson, who exclusively told Football Insider the Merseyside giants will be “burning cash” at this time of year due to the lack of money coming through the door at Goodison Park.

Everton confirmed last month The Friedkin Group has reached an agreement to purchase Moshiri’s 94.1 per cent stake in the club.

It comes after Friedkin previously pulled out of talks to buy the Merseysiders in July due to risks associated with the £200million loan provided to the club by former prospective owner 777 Partners.

But those concerns have since been resolved, allowing the American billionaire to reignite his interest and agree terms with Moshiri on a deal believed to be worth in excess of £400million.

The 59-year-old is currently waiting to receive regulatory approval from the Premier League, the FA and the Financial Conduct Authority before he can finalise the takeover.

The New York court overseeing the Leadenhall case against 777 also needs to approve the settlement of the £200million loan provided to Everton by the US investment firm.

Everton have little money coming through the door

Borson believes Friedkin could look to put money into the club over the next few weeks to help pay the bills.

“We know that Everton will be burning cash at this time of the year,” Borson told Football Insider.

“There is not a lot of money coming in because you don’t get season ticket money at this time of the year, you have already had it.

“You don’t get TV money this time of the year, you have already had it.

“There is no prize money.

“You have got a little bit coming through the door for things like matchday sales and things, but it’s not significant.

“We don’t know what the cash position is, but I would not be surprised if we see The Friedkin Group putting in some money in some form over the next few weeks.”
