Everton takeover: ‘Farhad Moshiri update for possible final game vs Arsenal’

Farhad Moshiri is unlikely to attend Everton vs Arsenal for what could be his final game as majority shareholder, according to the Liverpool Echo.

The Friedkin Group (TFG) are expected to complete their takeover deal of the Merseyside club within the next week.

According to the outlet’s website on 14 December, “barring any late changes” Moshiri won’t attend the clash at the Emirates later the same day despite doing so for London games previously, but is “hopeful of attending a match in the near future”.

Football Insider exclusively revealed in November the American billionaire is on course to complete the deal before the end of December.

Everton fans may be happy not to see their owner in time for a new era

Moshiri increased his ownership stake in Everton to 94.1% in 2022 [The Guardian], but it hasn’t been a smooth journey for the club or its fans.

Since then, the Toffees have endured back-to-back relegation battles, narrowly escaping the drop with Sean Dyche leading the charge.

The Friedkin group are expected to complete their anticipated takeover.

Adding to their woes, the club faced a six-point deduction last season for breaching profit and sustainability (PSR) regulations, a blow that complicated their fight to stay in the Premier League, even before another two were taken later in the same campaign.

Now, the Texas-based billionaires are eager to avoid another relegation scrap this season, knowing it could derail their long-term ambitions. They are keen to begin their ownership with a decisive, “get-to-work” approach.

TFG appear committed to backing the former Burnley coach, with no immediate plans to replace him.

Whether that support will extend to the January transfer window remains to be seen. But it presents a golden opportunity to make a statement and build momentum.

In other news, the Friedkins’ stance on sacking Sean Dyche once they takeover has now emerged.
