Everton takeover: John Textor deal faces collapse – Keith Wyness
Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness has suggested John Textor’s potential takeover is “waning” despite “huge positives”.
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the 66-year-old – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – claimed the American businessman may be struggling to make progress with the Premier League over parking his share in Crystal Palace.
Football Insider revealed on Monday (10 June) that Textor wants to complete a full takeover at Everton after registering his interest in securing a deal for the club.
However, Premier League rules state a party can’t own a stake in more than one top-flight club, meaning Textor would have to sell his 45% shareholding at Crystal Palace.
He also has stakes in French side Lyon, Brazilian first-division club Botafogo and Belgian side RWD Molenbeek.
Textor’s Everton deal ‘waning’ after new Premier League talks, says Wyness
Wyness claimed Textor would have been the “quickest” potential suitor to pass the Premier League’s owners’ and directors’ test.
He told Football Insider‘s Insider Track podcast: “The Textor deal is still not officially dead.
“It seems as though he’s struggling to make progress with the Premier League over putting his Crystal Palace shares in a trust, allowing him to work with Everton.
“Certainly, he’d be quickest to pass the owners’ and directors’ test because he’s already in place at Palace.

“That would be a huge positive in his favour.
“But the speculation and interest from his group certainly seems to be waning at this point.”
