Everton takeover: Keith Wyness is convinced about John Textor return
Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness has insisted John Textor is “completely out” of the running to seal a takeover.
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the 66-year-old – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – claimed Textor didn’t endear himself to Farhad Moshiri or Evertonians with his public comments on the deal.
Football Insider revealed on Wednesday (25 September) that Everton prospective owner The Friedkin Group could receive Premier League approval within the next six weeks to complete a takeover at Goodison Park.
But Friedkin has already pulled out of a deal on one occasion, allowing Textor to firm up his interest in a buyout.
In an interview with Sky Sports (12 September), Textor claimed becoming the new owner of Everton would be like becoming President of the United States.
Friedkin now looks set to swoop in and become the new owner at Goodison Park after resolving issues around money owed to 777 Partners.
Textor now ‘completely out’ of Everton takeover running, says Wyness
Wyness told Football Insider‘s Insider Track podcast: “I think Textor is completely out.
“It’s the right situation, I think. Freidkin has always been my preferred bidder, even if there are some issues which need sorting out.
“Textor is out of the picture. He hasn’t been able to sell his Palace share, and there are still a lot of issues with his IPO for Eagle Football.
“There were a lot of questions about Lyon, and the way things have been stretched there.
“Certainly, when he became very vocal about the takeover he didn’t endear himself to Moshiri or the fan base.
“People realised that if you’re going to do a deal like this, you keep quiet until it is done.

“That’s what a lot of the fans saw.
“Textor won’t be coming in to be a custodian at Everton.”
In other news, Graham Potter “very interested” in agreeing Everton deal.
