Everton takeover: Keith Wyness reacts to Friedkin twist – ‘everyone forgets…’
Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness has insisted he “would love” Dan Friedkin to re-enter the race to buy his old side.
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the 66-year-old – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – claimed “everyone forgets” that Friedkin has already sunk £200million into trying to buy the Toffees.
According to Bloomberg (16 September), US billionaire Friedkin has reignited his plan to buy Everton after walking away from a deal two months ago.
John Textor has since stepped into the void and opened talks with Farhad Moshiri, but is yet to find a full agreement to buy the Merseysiders.
Textor will first need to sell his share in Crystal Palace before he can proceed with an Everton deal.
Wyness ‘would love’ Friedkin to reignite Everton takeover
Wyness claimed he is a fan of Friedkin because the US billionaire has not spoken to the press about the pursuit of a takeover deal.
He told Football Insider‘s Insider Track podcast: “This news broke on Monday from Bloomberg.
“I don’t necessarily think Friedkin would be working with Textor in this case, although they could be a good team if they come together.
“Everyone forgets that Friedkin has already put £200million into the club, he’s a major debtor at the club.
“He could come back in by himself.
“I’ve always welcomed Friedkin, I did a lot of research on his time at Roma.
“What I do like about him is that he’s not been saying too much in the press. He’s letting actions speak louder than words.
“But Textor has made big statements in the press and got his knuckles wrapped by the club.

“The two together could work, but I don’t know the chemistry they have.
“My favourite situation would be Friedkin getting the lot. I would love that.”
