Kieran Maguire: Everton are ‘guaranteed’ major windfall after ‘impressive’ deal struck
Everton are “guaranteed” an increased share of the spoils from the Premier League’s latest overseas broadcast deal.
So says finance guru Kieran Maguire, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the new rights package for Japan and South Korea.
Sport Business reported last Thursday (27 January) that Eclat Media Group has acquired the rights to broadcast the top flight from next season.

It is understood that the new deal for the region is worth more than the previous three-year agreement.
The Premier League’s official figures show that the Toffees trousered £130.4million in central payments in the 2020-21 campaign.
And Maguire explains that Everton will benefit in line with any upswing in the overseas pot.
“The Premier League deserves a lot of credit,” he told Football Insider‘s Adam Williams.
“It is still extracting more money from the international market. It now stands at around 45 per cent of the total value of the deal.
“In 1992, the Premier League effectively gave away the rights. So it’s impressive they’ve continually renegotiated with broadcasters.
“There’s a fixed amount which is split evenly. Now, any increase in international rights is half-split evenly and half-split on a merit basis.
“So if there is an upturn, Everton are guaranteed to make at least something extra from it.”

Everton are yet to release their accounts for 2020-21 but posted league-record losses of £139.9m for the last recorded financial year.
They are under new management in the form of Frank Lampard, who will take charge against Newcastle United next Tuesday (8 February).
