Everton to allow Beto sale after Calvert-Lewin twist – sources
Everton want to sell Beto this summer, but a move will depend on the future of Dominic Calvert-Lewin, sources have told Football Insider.
Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that Beto’s future will depend on whether they can keep hold of Calvert-Lewin beyond the transfer window.
This comes after Football Insider revealed that both West Ham and Newcastle have made moves to sign Calvert-Lewin, with his contract set to expire next summer.
The 27-year-old has so far failed to agree terms on a new deal at Goodison Park and his availability has alerted interested clubs.
However, Everton remain keen to keep hold of their first-choice striker rather than lose him either on a cut-price deal or for free in 2025.
Everton to allow Beto sale amid Dominic Calvert-Lewin contract talks
Calvert-Lewin joined Everton in 2016 after a £1.5million fee was agreed with Sheffield United, and has gone on to make 247 appearances on Merseyside, scoring 68 goals.
He has suffered from a string of injury issues and missed 97 games during his eight years at Goodison Park, raising questions about his long-term availability.
While Everton are keen to keep him at the club this summer, they could look to sell in an attempt to raise funds rather than let him leave for free next year.
Meanwhile, sources also told Football Insider that preliminary discussions have been held over the sale of Beto to Bologna after Sean Dyche gave the green light for his exit.
The Brazilian arrived from Udinese last summer but struggled to make his mark in the Premier League, making just 12 starts under Dyche.
Everton are now looking to cut their losses on the striker after paying £26million to bring him to Goodison Park just one year ago.

Calvert-Lewin’s decision over a new deal could kick off a domino effect in the transfer window should he opt to make the move to a rival Premier League club.
In other news, a deal for Vitaliy Mykolenko has collapsed after Sean Dyche’s call.
