Sources: Neal Maupay undergoing Everton medical as Fulham offer rejected

Brighton striker Neal Maupay is undergoing a medical today ahead of a move to Everton, sources have told Football Insider.

The 26-year-old has rejected an offer from Premier League new boys Fulham and is expected to complete a move to the Toffees imminently.

The Frenchman, who is out of contract at the end of the current campaign, has not played at all for Brighton this season.

Brighton

Danny Welbeck has instead been prefered as the lone striker in Graham Potter’s 3-4-2-1 system.

Maupay joined the Seagulls from Brentford in 2019 and has netted 27 times in 109 apperances for the club, including nine goals in 35 outings in 2021-22.

Frank Lampard is looking to bolster his forward line ahead of next Thursday’s (31 August) transfer cut-off.

Academy star Anthony Gordon, 21, could soon provide the finance to help the Toffees, with the attacker linked heavily with a big-money move to Chelsea.

The Merseysiders lost Richarlison to Tottenham earlier this summer and fellow striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin has struggled with injury over the last 12 months.

They are winless in their first three league matches in 2022-23 ahead of their clash with Maupay’s former club Brentford on Saturday (27 August).

Everton

Brighton by contrast are one of five top-flight sides yet to taste defeat.

Maupay would represent a third big-name departure from the Amex this summer after the exits of Marc Cucurella to Chelsea and Yves Bissouma to Tottenham.
