Everton told by bidder to accept November takeover offer – Keith Wyness

Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness has claimed John Textor could issue an ultimatum to Farhad Moshiri in a bid to wrap his takeover up by the end of November.

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the 66-year-old – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – claimed the US takeover must sell his share in Crystal Palace and present a cogent “financial structure” for the Merseysiders before that deadline.

Textor, who has the backing of Aliya Capital Partners, is in negotiations to secure a full takeover at Everton.

However, Wyness told Football Insider (18 September) that the US investor does not have an exclusive agreement with the club over a potential buyout.

Earlier this month (12 September), Everton insisted “there remains some work to be done to complete the transaction”.

Textor must sell his 45% share in fellow Premier League side Crystal Palace before he will be allowed to take charge at Goodison Park.

Textor will deliver November ultimatum over Everton takeover, says Wyness

Wyness told Football Insider‘s Insider Track podcast: “I think Textor will say to Moshiri – if I deliver you this by 30 November, will you accept it?

“That’s what we’ll have.

“A lot is going on behind the scenes right now.

“We need to get this deal done by Christmas.

“Textor has to divest his Palace shares and show there is a financial structure which can not only deliver Moshiri what he wants but also secure the club going forward.

“I believe Moshiri wouldn’t want to leave the club in a bigger mess than it is already in.

“That’s my gut feeling.”
