Everton told by Keith Wyness to appoint new executive to run the club
Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness has insisted Farhad Moshiri needs to appoint a new executive to run the club.
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the 66-year-old – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – suggested Moshiri can’t be trusted to take control of proceedings again after making several “poor” decisions in recent years.
The Merseyside club remain in a precarious financial position after 777 Partners failed to get its takeover bid over the line at Goodison Park.
Moshiri is now open to new offers for his 94.1 per cent share in Everton, with Football Insider revealing last month American bidders have contacted the Iranian about buying the club.
Colin Chong is currently acting as interim chief executive, while director of football Kevin Thelwell and manager Sean Dyche are believed to be handling football matters.
Everton uncertainty continues as Goodison lacking figurehead
Wyness believes an experienced figure needs to be brought in to help steer the ship while Moshiri focuses on selling his stake in the Merseysiders.
He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “It’s a difficult one as to who is really calling the shots now.
“I think on a day-to-day basis, we’re seeing Sean Dyche and Kevin Thelwell become very important in the structure of things.
“Colin Chong, who is the interim chief executive, has done a good job of trying to stabilise the ship.
“But we should never forget, he is basically the stadium project manager and he’s going to be very busy as that project comes to a close.
“It’s a very frantic period of time on the stadium in terms of the fit out, and there is a huge amount of work being done there to get it finished.

“It’s going to take somebody to really keep hands on and there has been no sign of Moshiri really being able to do that. He’s made some very poor decisions on the football side, with a number of managers over the years.
“The fans and certainly myself have got no faith in him being able to run the club properly.
“It’s almost on autopilot at the moment and we’ll see how that goes forward.
“But there needs to be another figurehead brought into the club at the executive level to be seen as having hands on experience to do that.”
