Everton told the price needed to land signing of new Belgian superstar – O’Rourke

Everton will need to stump up £40million in the summer transfer window to sign Club Brugge star Joel Ordonez, sources have told Football Insider.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that Everton will “be in the market” for a new centre-back in the summer as Michael Keane’s contract is expiring.

David Moyes will be looking to add further defensive options to ensure Everton don’t get dragged into a relegation battle once again next season.

Ordonez has proven himself in Belgium and in the Champions League and is making a name for himself across Europe.

He is seen as a young prospect who will only improve with age, which would make him a sensible signing as his potential is high and his resale value could be as well.

However, well-placed sources have told Football Insider that he will be a tough target to land as Club Brugge have valued him at around £40million.

Everton might need to make a sale first

Even though Ordonez ticks a lot of boxes that Moyes is looking for, well-placed sources revealed to Football Insider that they might be priced out of a move.

Moyes is set to have money to spend in the summer as The Friedkin Group aims to provide some financial support to help strengthen the squad, but it’s unlikely they will spend £40million on a player unless there are big sales.

Jarrad Branthwaite is a player who has been heavily linked with a move away from Goodison Park, and he could be an option if Everton want to cash in on the England international.

David Moyes wants to develop talent at Everton

Football Insider revealed that Moyes is looking for young and hungry players who he could potentially develop in the long run for the future.

Everton are also expected to dip into the Championship this summer in a bid to try and sign someone who can be developed into a superstar.

Industry insider Mick Brown also revealed to Football Insider that Everton are prepared to complete the signing of West Brom star Tom Fellows, showcasing their intent to bring in Championship stars.
