Everton told to complete Championship signings after fire sale – Keith Wyness
Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness has insisted the Merseysiders should raid the Championship for talent in the summer window after selling some of their top stars.
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the 66-year-old – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – claimed the Toffees can’t afford players in the “£50-80million” range.
Everton took one huge step towards Premier League safety after beating Liverpool 2-0 at Goodison on Wednesday (24 April).
Sean Dyche’s side are now eight points above the relegation zone with five games left to play this term.
Wyness has previously told Football Insider (13 April) that Everton “can’t escape” from of selling both Jarrad Branthwaite and Amadou Onana this summer.

The ex-CEO has urged his former side to look at “quality” talent in the second tier.
He told Football Insider‘s Insider Track podcast: “We’ve got to see what players have to be sold to meet the PSR requirements.
“The points deductions can’t keep coming so there will have to be moves made – and that will mean there are gaps which have to be filled.
“The squad will need reinforcements.
“Everton has got to look in the Championship because there are quality players standing out in that division.

“They won’t be in the £50-80million range, either.
“It’s a financial equation which the club will have to work out. New owners could help.”
