Everton told to complete 'perfect' Conor Coady deal after latest - pundit
Noel Whelan has insisted Conor Coady would be a “smashing” signing for Everton.
The former Leeds striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claimed the 29-year-old could forge a “formidable partnership” with summer signing James Tarkowski.
According to the Daily Mail (4 August), Everton are pushing to sign Coady from Wolves – and the England international is open to the move.
The report claims the centre-back has been pushed down the pecking order following Nathan Collins’ arrival and Bruno Lage’s impending switch to a four-man defence.
Coady, who has amassed 10 England caps since his debut in 2020, started every league match for Wolves last season.
He captained Lage’s side as they finished 10th in the Premier League.

Whelan suggested signing the experienced star could solve “real problems” at the back for Frank Lampard’s outfit.
He told Football Insider‘s Ewan Kingsbury: “He’d be absolutely perfect.
“He’s from Liverpool, he’s got a point to prove to Gareth Southgate, and he’s a real leader.
“Him and Tarkowski, that could be part of a formidable partnership at Everton – and centre-back is somewhere they’ve had real problems recently.
“He’d definitely add the quality and steeliness that Everton need. If they get him at the right price, that’d be a smashing piece of business – it really would.”
Everton have completed deals for Ruben Vinagre, Dwight McNeil, and Tarkowski thus far this summer.
The Toffees start their Premier League campaign by hosting Chelsea on Saturday (6 August).
