Everton told to ’embarrass the Premier League’ in new points deduction twist – Keith Wyness

Former Everton chief Keith Wyness has claimed there is “every chance” of the Toffees appealing for a second time if they are handed another points deduction.

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the 66-year-old – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – urged his old side to “be on the attack” and “embarrass the Premier League”.

Everton face an independent commission for their second Profitability and Sustainability Regulations (PSR) breach next week – with a verdict set to be announced by 8 April.

The Toffees have already been deducted six points (reduced from 10 after appeal) this season for their first breach.

Sean Dyche’s side are in danger of relegation this term and currently sit four points above the drop zone before another possible points penalty.

The Premier League have confirmed any appeals will have to be settled by 24 May – five days after the season ends.

Wyness told Football Insider‘s Insider Track podcast: “We’ll have to wait and see what the judgement says, but there could well be another appeal.

“There’s every chance.

“Certainly, I’d be on the attack and looking to embarrass the Premier League if I was still at Everton.

“The legal brains have got this wrong, they’ve obviously never run a football club.

“These are people who don’t understand football in this sense and are now making judgements which are dictating what is happening in the table.

“It’s really wrong.”
