Everton told to forget Anthony Elanga and sign striker after source’s update – Robinson

Paul Robinson has told Everton to U-turn on a move for Man United winger Anthony Elanga.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Spurs and England number one said the Toffees should concentrate their efforts on signing a centre-forward.

Elanga has struggled for game time at Old Trafford under Erik ten Hag.

Sources have told Football Insider (1 January) that Everton have registered their interest in signing the winger.

They will face competition from a number of clubs if Elanga chooses to exit.

His contract at Man United runs until the end of June 2026.

When asked by Football Insider if Elanga was an upgrade on the current wide options at Goodison Park, Robinson said: “I’m not so sure he is an upgrade on Demarai Gray or Anthony Gordon.

“He has not really made it at United. He has amazing pace and has had good moments but he is a squad player for them.

“I’m not sure he’d make an immediate impact on that Everton team. That is what Everton need. They need someone who is going to score the goals to keep them up.

“I would be focused on signing a striker if I was them. I think they have enough in the wide areas to get to the end of the season.”

Elanga has struggled for game time this season.

He has contributed one assist in 17 appearances across all competitions.
