Everton transfers: O’Rourke shares loan signings update today
Everton will have to dip into the loan market during the January transfer window to strengthen their squad, sources have told Football Insider.
Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that The Friedkin Group are not expected to be “spending really heavily” in the current transfer window.
The new Everton owners are expected to put their own stamp on the club, but profit and sustainability rules are going to impact how much they can do in January.
Well-placed sources revealed to Football Insider that the main goal for the club is to ensure survival in the Premier League, with the aim being to then try and build next season.
The Merseyside giants are 16th in the Premier League table at the moment, sitting only two points above the drop zone.
Instead, Everton are going to be looking at more loan deals rather than big-money signings in January.
Everton still want to improve their squad
The Everton boss wants to sign a right-back and a wide attacker to strengthen his squad for the second half of the campaign.

Everton have only lost once in their previous five matches, with Dyche looking to turn the corner for his team.
The club will be back in action on Saturday (4 January) as they travel to face Bournemouth.
In other news, Everton could announce ‘£150m’ deal within weeks – Keith Wyness.
