Everton have joined fellow Premier League club Southampton in the race to sign Club Brugge starlet Noah Fadiga, according to a report.
The Sun has revealed that the Toffees are interested in signing the 17-year-old Belgian playmaker but will face a battle with Italian sides Roma and Genoa as well as the Saints.
The newspaper claims that Everton bosses weren’t put off in their pursuit of the star despite the teenager’s contract extension in May which keeps him under contract until 2020
Fadiga has impressed since joining Brugge from the Anderlecht academy, and has scored three goals in just five appearances for the Under 21 squad.
The young starlet recently fractured his hand in July which will see him be sidelined for an unknown amount of time.
Football Insider verdict
Ronald Koeman has had a busy transfer window during the summer, and signing another youngster could work to his advantage. Fadiga has shown promise while at Brugge but heavily lacks experience, especially in a bigger league. The teenager desperately needs more playing time in order to develop so it would be unsurprising if Koeman replicated the deal he made with Henry Onyekuru. Earlier in the transfer window the Toffees secured 20-year-old Onyekuru from Belgian side KAS Eupen and immediately loaned him to Anderlecht for a season in order to increase his playing time and growth as a player. A deal like that could be incredibly beneficial for both Koeman and Fadiga, who provides a long term solution for Everton’s midfield.
In other Everton transfer news, the Toffees had reached a verbal agreement with one of their Premier League rivals for this set-piece wizard.
