Everton well placed to agree three late signings

Everton are well-placed to make a trio of late signings in the January transfer window, sources have told Football Insider.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that Merseyside giants “have got a bit of money” to spend before the 3 February deadline.

New owners The Friedkin Group are ready to invest some money into the squad in January to boost David Moyes’ options.

Well-placed sources have told Football Insider that Everton could make up to three signings before the window shuts, with a midfielder and a striker being seen as a priority.

Moyes wants a box-to-box midfielder to bring some energy into his squad, especially since Orel Mangala suffered a serious knee injury.

Meanwhile, Everton also wants a striker to improve their attacking threat, which has been enhanced due to Dominic Calvert-Lewin suffering a hamstring problem.

Everton want to enhance the squad this month

Only Southampton have scored fewer goals than Everton this season, who have managed just 19 in 22 matches.

That has increased the need for a forward, and Paul Robinson told Football Insider that he believes the Merseyside giants are in pole position to bring in Evan Ferguson.

Industry insider Mick Brown also exclusively told Football Insider that Everton are well-placed to sign Chelsea midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka.

The club are restricted to how much they can spend during the January transfer window due to profit and sustainability issues.

With Moyes’ side just seven points above the relegation zone the new ownership are looking to strengthen the squad to ensure Premier League status for next season.
