Everton poised to sign Jack Harrison – Wyness: ‘I’ve looked at the numbers’

Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness has claimed the club are well placed to keep Leeds United’s Jack Harrison on Merseyside.

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the 66-year-old – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – insisted Leeds will have to do business fast after missing out on promotion to the Premier League.

Harrison spent the 2023-24 campaign on loan at Everton following Leeds’ relegation from the top flight last year.

Football Insider revealed on Tuesday (28 May) that the winger has made it clear during talks that he wants to stay at Goodison Park.

Harrison started in 31 of his 35 appearances for Everton, notching three goals and four assists – and helping Sean Dyche’s side maintain their Premier League status.

Wyness suggested the ex-Man City man, who is under contract until June 2028, will be just one of several Leeds stars to leave this summer.

He told Football Insider‘s Insider Track podcast: “I think Leeds will have to let stars leave.

“I’ve looked at the numbers, and the amount owed for past transfers is huge.

“That alone will have to be taken care of, and quickly.

“For example, Jack Harrison spent the season at Everton on loan. From what I have heard, he will end up staying at Everton, rather than coming back.

“Leeds will have to do a lot of pruning, even with the parachute payments coming in.

“Harrison will be one of those players who has to go.”
