‘Everton will agree Jarrad Branthwaite exit fee – he can leave…’

Jarrad Branthwaite’s Everton future is in question once again with a number of the Premier League elite clubs plotting moves this summer.

According to the Daily Mail (2 June), Man United have now been joined in the race by Tottenham, Chelsea and Liverpool – with Real Madrid also linked in the past.

Branthwaite is still under contract at Everton, who no longer need to cash in on their top assets for financial reasons, until June 2027 with an option for a 12-month extension.

He was key to David Moyes‘ refresh in the second half of the 2024-25 campaign after missing a big chunk of games at the start of this season through injury.

Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – has had his say on a potential exit for the England international.

Branthwaite could sign new Everton deal with release clause, says Wyness

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Wyness insisted he expects Branthwaite to sign a new contract with a release clause for top clubs.

He was the subject of £50million bids from Man United last summer (2024).

Wyness suggested Branthwaite “will always be able to move” – with young, English talents highly coveted in the Premier League.

He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “If I’m advising Branthwaite right now, I think he’s at the right age to stay and sign a new contract at Everton.

“I’m sure they would be able to structure that contract with a buyout clause, which would allow him to move.

“He expect him to stay for maybe two years into a new contract – at that time he would be ready.

“He’ll always be able to move. He can get the move in a year or two if he really had to, but I don’t think now is the right time.”

Rangers respond to Everton’s Diomande interest

Meanwhile, Football Insider revealed on 6 June that Russell Martin wants to build his new-look Rangers team around Mohamed Diomande – and will reject any approach from Everton.

Rangers believe there is “more to come” from Diomande next term, and Martin is keen for the Ivory Coast international to develop further before eventually being sold.

Everton have shown a reported interest in the Ibrox star, who signed from Danish club Nordsjaelland on an initial loan in January 2024.
