Everton will be impacted by Man City controversy – pundit
Everton will be impacted by the Manchester City associated party transactions (APT) case as it could have a ripple effect on football as a whole.
Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, former Tottenham and England goalkeeper Paul Robinson believes Man City’s case will impact clubs in different ways regardless of their wealth.
The English champions have pursued legal action against the Premier League regarding the APT rules currently in place, with the club claiming the regulations are “unlawful”.
Reports have suggested Everton, Newcastle United and Chelsea are backing Man City to varying degrees as they take on the governing body.
The Merseyside giants were hit with two separate points deductions last season for breaching the Premier League’s spending rules, resulting in them being docked eight points overall.
Football Insider revealed last month Everton could land a third points deduction next season due to an ongoing dispute regarding the status of certain costs associated with the building of their new stadium on Bramley-Moore Dock.
Everton to be impacted as Man City pursue legal action
Robinson believes the upcoming Man City case could have an impact on Everton’s situation as they look to solve their financial issues.
“I think the Man City case is going to have a ripple effect through football,” he told Football Insider.
“I think it will impact teams in different ways regardless of what your wealth is as a club.
“For Everton, you just want to see a football club like that sort themselves out and be financially right to give the supporters something they’ve not had for a long time.
“It’s been a difficult time to be an Everton fan, it really has.

“You can’t question the togetherness and the commitment of the supporters and the team.
“Sean Dyche has gone in there and galvanised the team.”
