Kenny: Everton will ‘massively regret’ transfer failure after official Coleman reveal
Everton will regret their failure to sign a right-back this summer after Seamus Coleman suffered a hamstring injury on international duty.
So says ex-Premier League goalkeeper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the latest update on 32-year-old Toffees skipper.
Everton confirmed on 6 September that Coleman had sustained the injury in the Republic of Ireland’s 1-1 World Cup qualifying draw two days earlier.

The club revealed that the defender has since returned to Merseyside to be assessed by the medical team at Finch Farm.
The Toffees did not sign a right-back in the summer but were consistently linked with moves.
Coleman meanwhile penned a new deal that will keep him at Everton for two more years.
And Kenny claims the captain’s injury scare will have left Everton ruing their failure to recruit in his position.
“They will massively regret it, 100 per cent,” he told Football Insider correspondent Adam Williams.
“We don’t know exactly how serious his injury is yet, but hamstring can be quite a funny one.
“I’m sure if he is going to be out for a while, they will regret not getting anyone in during the window.
“These past 18 months have been a really tough workload for players. There have been a lot of games.
“It’s triple-headers in the international breaks as well, so it’s a lot of strain on the body.

“Everton will be gutted if they are going to lose him for a couple of weeks because he’s a star player for them.
“He’s a steady Eddie. They know what they are going to get from him, week in, week out.”
