Everton ‘working on signing Jesper Lindstrom replacement’ after Moyes decision

Everton have begun working behind the scenes to sign a replacement for Jesper Lindstrom ahead of his loan spell coming to and end in the summer.

That is according to former Man United and Blackburn chief scout Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected within the game, as he exclusively told Football Insider that David Moyes would like to add new attacking talent to his side.

Lindstrom, 24, has remained a key part of the starting XI since the manager’s arrival at Goodison Park but his lack of efficiency in the final third has raised red flags.

The right-midfielder has started five of the boss’ six Premier League games in charge so far, but has yet to record a single goal or assist this season.

This comes after Football Insider revealed on 14 February that Moyes is set to have the final say on a potential permanent transfer for Lindstrom.

Currently on loan from Napoli, there is a belief that the deal will be simple to complete if Everton decide to keep him permanently, but that decision has not yet been made.

Instead, the scouting team at Goodison Park have turned their attention to potential replacements who could add more threat going forward.

Everton prepared to let Jesper Lindstrom return to Napoli

Brown told Football Insider on 19 February that Everton want to sign “the next Iliman Ndiaye” – a player who can add freedom, creativity, and a spark to their attack.

The former scout, who has a wealth of experience in top-level player recruitment after over a decade at Man United during their most successful period, has insisted that alternatives to Lindstrom are being considered with that aim in mind.

I think the decision is one David Moyes will have to make,” he told Football Insider.

“There are a few red flags about Lindstrom because he’s not scoring or assisting goals, he hasn’t got that creativity they’re looking for in the final third.

“I would think Moysey will look at that and think he’d like somebody with a bit more end product.

“He’s getting the best out of these players at the moment.

“The lads who are there now, the hard-working players, have done brilliantly to keep them solid.

“But I know he’ll be looking at that squad with his recruitment team and assessing the areas they can improve in come the summer.

“I think out wide is going to be one of those areas, and they can improve on Lindstrom.

“Ultimately it will come down to what they think his role would be next season, or whether they’re prepared to let him go back to Napoli.

“But strengthening the attacking talent in that squad is going to be a priority for Moyes.”

West Brom star Tom Fellows backed to make Goodison Park move

As Everton continue to consider wide players to add to their squad, West Brom star Tom Fellows has emerged as an outstanding candidate for the role.

The Toffees were close to completing a deal to sign Fellows in the January transfer window, but it fell through as they could not agree on a fee with West Brom.

However, Brown told Football Insider on 11 February that the deal is likely to be done in the summer when both clubs will have more time to make a firm decision.

The ground work has already been done towards the deal, and plans are already in place to reignite talks over a player who has been a long-term target for Everton.
