Everton’s plan to replace Man United-bound Jarrad Branthwaite revealed – sources

Everton will not be able to bring in a big-money replacement for Jarrad Branthwaite this summer, sources have told Football Insider.

Football Insider revealed on Monday (22 April) that Man United are pushing ahead to agree an early-window deal for Branthwaite.

It is believed the 21-year-old could be sold by Everton before 30 June to include his fee in their accounts for the 2023-24 campaign and avoid further points deductions.

Sources say United are confident a bid of between £60-70million will be accepted by the Merseysiders.

But the majority of the money they bring in for Branthwaite and other top-valued stars will be swallowed up by the club’s huge debt.

Therefore, Sean Dyche’s side will only be able to sanction the signing of a low-cost replacement for the central defender.

Everton reportedly owe more than £550million in total to third-party creditors.

777 Partners, who are trying to buy the club from Farhad Moshiri, have funded the club through loans while MSP Capital are also owed £158million.

The Toffees have struggled to spend on players in recent transfer windows and have been deducted nine points this season for breaching the Premier League’s Profitability and Sustainability Rules (PSR).

Branthwaite has made 36 appearances across all competitions for Everton this term – starting in each of those outings.

He earned his first senior England call-up last month after impressing for the Under-21 side.
