Every Aston Villa game John McGinn is set to miss after crushing injury news from Villa Park
John McGinn could miss the next nine Aston Villa games after it was confirmed that he suffered a knee injury against Everton last weekend.
Villa faced Everton on 18 January in the hope of extending their impressive 11-game unbeaten run on home turf, but were beaten 1-0 after Thierno Barry’s second-half strike.
The defeat was agonising, but McGinn‘s injury woes made the afternoon even more worrying as he had to be hauled off in the 18th minute.
Unai Emery‘s side have since gone on to beat Fenerbahce and Newcastle away from home in the last week, with their captain sidelined awaiting a full prognosis.
The Scottish midfielder is a vital part of everything that Villa want to achieve this season, but is now set to miss a key run of games after his recovery timeline was revealed.

John McGinn to miss around six weeks with a knee injury
McGinn signed a new contract at Villa last November to reinforce his commitment to the club, with Emery handing him a 21st Premier League start of the campaign against the Toffees.
The 31-year-old suffered a non-contact injury in the early stages of their 1-0 defeat at Villa Park, and despite trying to play on, he soon departed and was replaced by Evann Guessand.
Emery admitted prior to Villa’s trip to take on Fenerbahce last Thursday that he was still unsure of the timeline of his injury, but The Athletic have now revealed that McGinn is facing around six weeks on the sidelines with a knee problem.
The nine Villa games that McGinn is set to miss after knee injury update
Villa have moved to bolster their wing areas since the initial blow, with Leon Bailey returning from a loan at Roma, but with Boubacar Kamara also out and set to miss the rest of the season, Emery is likely to want to sign a new central midfielder in the next week.
McGinn will be a big miss in a busy upcoming period on numerous fronts for the Villans, and Football Insider have looked at the nine games that he could miss out on as he continues his recovery.
