Every Aston Villa game Youri Tielemans is set to miss as Unai Emery reveals injury timeline

Youri Tielemans could miss the next 14 Aston Villa games after Unai Emery revealed how long he is set to be sidelined for after suffering an ankle injury.

Villa made the trip to Newcastle last Sunday looking to get back to winning ways in the Premier League, and goals in either half from Emi Buendia and Ollie Watkins earned them a 2-0 victory.

Emery‘s side have gained on Arsenal after their loss to Man United later the same day, with just four points between them and the table-toppers and 15 league games still to play.

The win at St James’ Park was vital, but was somewhat dampened by news of Tielemans‘ injury woes after he was forced off in the 74th minute.

He has been a vital part of Emery’s midfield and Villa’s great fortunes over the last few seasons, and their ambitions of silverware this season are set to be hampered as he spends the next few months in the treatment room.

Emery has confirmed that Tielemans could face up to 10 weeks out

Emery’s midfield injuries are piling up at the worst possible time, with Boubacar Kamara out for the rest of the season and club captain John McGinn also set to be sidelined for the next six weeks.

Villa fans feared the worst for Tielemans in the aftermath of his problem at Newcastle, and their manager confirmed they were right to have such fears in his pre-match press conference on Wednesday.

Emery has confirmed that the Belgium international faces “eight to 10 weeks out”, which serves as a huge blow to the hopes of winning the Premier League, Europa League and FA Cup.

Villa recently re-signed Douglas Luiz to bolster their midfield ranks in the face of numerous injury issues, and he will be expected to make an instant impact, despite failing to impress on loan at Nottingham Forest for the first half of the campaign.
