Every manager job Unai Emery is in the running to land after Aston Villa

Unai Emery is in with a chance of landing numerous top jobs in Europe and at international level when his time at Aston Villa is over.

Emery has been a revelation at Aston Villa over the last few years, with the club now consistently challenging in the top six and in the latter stages of European competitions.

They reached the quarter-finals of the Champions League and finished sixth in the Premier League last season, with a strong first-half of this campaign taking them into third place and a title race as it stands.

His stellar job in charge of Villa has only furthered his pedigree and status as one of the world’s best managers, after he was also a success in charge of PSG, Sevilla and Villarreal.

Emery signed a five-year contract extension in May 2024, so is not expected to leave Villa imminently, but numerous top clubs could look to poach him soon if they continue their upward trajectory.

Emery is in the running for numerous top jobs – Real Madrid, Liverpool and France are all possibilities

Real Madrid are mulling over the future of Xabi Alonso right now, after a slow start upon his return to the club as manager for this season.

According to the latest bookmaker’s odds, Emery is 16/1 to return to La Liga and become the next Los Blancos boss after Alonso, but he is way behind Jurgen Klopp, who is priced at evens to be the next man in charge at the Bernabeu.

Liverpool have backed under fire boss Arne Slot in recent weeks after an upturn in form, but his job still seems to be in a precarious position long-term.

Emery is as short as 10/1 to be the next Reds manager, with Madrid man Alonso the favourite to return to Anfield at 10/3.

The Basque boss comes in at 9/1 to succeed Ruben Amorim at Man United, while he is an outsider to venture into international management after Villa, at 33/1 to be the next France manager.

A return to Arsenal is surely unlikely at any point in the future, but Emery comes in at 12/1 to be their manager after Mikel Arteta, while he is 25/1 to manage their rivals Tottenham after Thomas Frank.

Gareth Southgate, Oliver Glasner and Marco Silva have been tipped for Villa job

Emery was thought to be fighting for his job in September as Villa struggled in the early stages of the season and failed to even score in their first four league games.

Villa stuck by him and have been proven right to do so after their brilliant form of the last few months, but fans did get a glimpse into who could succeed Emery when he does depart at some point in the future.

Brendan Rodgers was the bookies’ favourite to take the job at 4/1, while former England boss Gareth Southgate came in at 6/1 and Andoni Iraola at 8/1.

Fulham manager Marco Silva was next up at 10/1, while Oliver Glasner, who is now set to leave Palace at the end of the campaign, was priced at 12/1.
