Every Premier League loan deal that can be terminated early in January

Loan deals have become an increasingly common sight in the Premier League in recent years.

Short-term deals that feature an option or an obligation to buy have become far more regular over the last few seasons, and there were plenty signed in the summer.

Harvey Elliott notably joined Aston Villa from Liverpool on an initial loan deal, which could then become a permanent switch for a fee of £35million next summer.

Jack Grealish has also helped to transform Everton in the early months of his season-long spell after leaving Manchester City.

However, the January window always has managers up and down the country sweating over the futures of their players, as it provides parent clubs with the mid-season opportunity to recall their stars.

With that in mind, Football Insider takes a look at every Premier League loan that can be cut short next month.

Aston Villa seek Harvey Elliott solution as Evan Ferguson return on the horizon

Aston Villa are desperately seeking a solution for Elliott’s plight ahead of January, as they attempt to avoid triggering their permanent agreement with Liverpool.

Unai Emery’s side will buy the midfielder if he makes 10 competitive appearances throughout the campaign, and as a result, he is being frozen out of matchday squads at the moment.

Liverpool have no recall clause as part of the deal, but both parties have expressed their desire to find a solution in January, which could lead to the deal being mutually terminated.

Evan Ferguson’s future is also under scrutiny amid a disappointing spell at Roma, and Premier League clubs are sure to be on red alert as Brighton contemplate a recall.

Fabian Hurzeler has also recently hinted that Facundo Buonanotte could potentially return from Chelsea in January, according to The Sussex Express.

The Blues also have the option to end Nicolas Jackson’s spell at Bayern Munich, but that is not something that is currently on their radar.

Tottenham hold several recall options as Matt Targett news breaks

Newcastle loaned Matt Targett to Middlesbrough at the end of the summer, but Eddie Howe is now contemplating bringing him back into the fold.

The Magpies have that option available to them in January, according to Sky Sports reporter Keith Downie via his X account, and could yet take up that possibility.

Tottenham sold significant control over some of their brightest talents, with recall clauses in place on both Luka Vuskovic’s loan at Hamburg, and Mikey Moore’s spell at Rangers.

Manor Solomon could also return to North London amid a struggle for gametime at Villarreal.

The Israeli’s former loan club Leeds United could also see some of their own loanees return this winter, with attackers Largie Ramazani and Joe Gelhardt covered by recall options at Valencia and Hull City respectively.

Swansea City boss Vitor Matos has also refused to rule out the possibility that Manuel Benson’s move from Burnley could come to a premature conclusion.
