Every word Robbie Savage said about joining Blackburn Rovers in bizarre social media clip
Forest Green Rovers manager Robbie Savage has directly addressed rumours linking him with the vacant Blackburn Rovers job.
Football Insider revealed on Wednesday that Savage is a leading candidate for the Blackburn job, with the 51-year-old impressing in the National League.
Valerien Ismael was sacked on Monday, after a string of disappointing results in the Championship.
Rovers went nine games without victory across all competitions, and were sleepwalking towards relegation under the Frenchman.
Savage has previously said that he is not ready for a job in the Championship, but the former Wales international has now clarified his position.
Robbie Savage questioned on Blackburn Rovers links
Savage spent three years at Blackburn as a player, making 100 appearances between 2005 and 2008.
In that sense, a return to Ewood Park made sense, with the former midfielder having a strong knowledge of the club.
But Savage’s experience as a manager is limited, to say the least. The 51-year-old is less than two years into his managerial career, and is yet to take charge in the EFL.

The Welshman’s Forest Green side are enjoying a strong season, but a step up to the Championship would be a big leap.
However, Blackburn fans need not to worry about the potential appointment of Savage, after a video was posted by Forest Green on Thursday.
In a clip posted to X by the National League club, Savage took the bizarre action of addressed the links directly.
“It’s purely speculation,” he said. “Listen, I loved my time there. Brilliant football club. Loved all of my old clubs I played for but it’s purely speculation.
“Listen, it’ll be someone else’s name tomorrow. I’ve loved my time here, I’ve got a great relationship with Dale [Vince], Asif [Rehmanwala] and Mark [Bowen].
“We’re on a journey, a project, and it’s something that I can’t wait to see through, so yeah, purely speculation and I’m sure it’ll be somebody else’s name tomorrow. Nothing at all [for the fans to worry about].”
Who are the favourites to take over at Blackburn?
In light of the links, Savage had risen to become the favourite to take over at Blackburn at 3/1, according to one major bookmaker.
Following him, Chris Coleman at 4/1 is the next favourite, with the former Wales manager out of work since leaving Greek side Asteras Aktor in January.

Slaven Bilic and David Wagner are also seen as strong candidates by the bookies, with a decision expected imminently.
Blackburn beat Sheffield Wednesday on Tuesday to lift themselves out of the relegation zone, but more difficult tests await.
