'Everyone else is carrying you' - Leeds fans destroy Joel Piroe after 1-0 win over Leicester
Leeds United fans were let down by Joel Piroe’s display against Leicester City on Friday night (3 November).
Despite the Whites’ 1-0 win at the King Power, which ended the Foxes’ nine-game winning streak, the Dutchman’s substandard performance did little to contribute to the victory.
Piroe failed to convert two clear-cut chances in the first half and struggled to keep up with Leeds’ quick counter-attacks.
Georginio Rutter gave Leeds the lead in the 58th minute and a strong defensive display in the closing stages secured Daniel Farke a huge win in his search for promotion.
With just 10 accurate passes, 23 touches and no goal contributions against Leicester, per SofaScore, Leeds fans feel the striker can offer much more.
One Leeds fan urged Piroe to “start turning up”.
Another claimed if Piroe was wearing his “shooting boots”, the Whites would have secured a much more convincing win.
One supporter was astonished by Piroe’s lack of involvement and claimed he has been carried in recent games.
One player admitted he only noticed the Dutchman for the wrong reasons.
One fan suggested changing Piroe’s position to maximise his goal-scoring capability.
One fan claimed Piroe was lucky Leeds managed to get the win because his lacklustre performance would have left him “feeling the heat” otherwise.
This supporter was much more sympathetic to Piroe than many other fans but still noted that he needs to start getting on the scoresheet more often.
Another fan singled him out directly as the “only disappointing” part of the Whites’ important victory.
