Everything David Moyes said about Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall injury after crushing blow vs Chelsea

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall lasted just 15 minutes before being forced off with an injury during Everton’s 2-0 defeat to Chelsea on Saturday.

David Moyes has relied on Dewsbury-Hall just as much as Jack Grealish and Iliman Ndiaye, and with six goal contributions, it is clear why his name is one of the first on the teamsheet.

Cole Palmer recently returned from injury for Chelsea, and it was the former Man City star who made matters even worse for the Toffees, scoring the opener six minutes after the injury blow on 13 December.

The 27-year-old is tied for the most goal contributions at the Hill Dickinson Stadium this season, so any games that he might miss for the Toffees will come as a huge blow for Moyes.

With so much concern over Everton’s playmaker, the manager has revealed what he knows so far.

Dewsbury-Hall has started 15 of Everton’s 16 Premier League matches this season, having been suspended due to getting too many yellow cards, and has become a key figure for the Toffees.

Understandably, supporters are fearing the worst for the attacking midfielder, even with Carlos Alcaraz replacing him, and the manager has shared an update from behind the scenes.

In his post-match press conference, Moyes said, “I’ll find out later what it is. He had a bit of tightness already, and then he felt it during the game.”

And it appears that the worries don’t stop there. The boss is also concerned for Grealish, who, like Dewsbury-Hall, felt his hamstring during the clash against the Blues.

Everton supporters can find relief in Dewsbury-Hall’s injury record

Jarrad Branthwaite has been unavailable since August due to injury, which has been a major blow for the Merseysiders, and Moyes will be hoping not to add to the treatment table.

In a more positive view, Dewsbury-Hall has yet to miss a game through injury for the Toffees, and was only unavailable for just five Chelsea matches last season.

Other than a calf injury for Leicester City back in 2021-22, the attacking midfielder has been relatively injury-free, and that will be a huge boost for Moyes and the squad after such a big blow.

Losing Grealish as well would be a major blow, though, potentially one that would need addressing in the January transfer window, with the Toffees already going to be without Ndiaye due to AFCON.
