Everything is going wrong for Rangers amid pre-Celtic development – Phillips
Kevin Phillips insists “everything is going wrong” for Rangers ahead of the first Old Firm of the season.
The Sunderland legend, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, reacted to a dramatic week at Ibrox.
Several Rangers stars and Steven Gerrard were unable to travel to Armenia for Thursday’s Europa League clash against Alashkert due to positive COVID cases.
This group included both senior goalkeepers and it is unknown if those missing players will be available to face Celtic.
Phillips can’t believe the turnaround in Glasgow and tipped Celtic as favourites ahead of Sunday’s massive clash.
“It’s amazing how football turns around isn’t it?” Phillips told Football Insider assistant editor Dylan Childs.
“Celtic get kicked out of the Champions League and you think ‘here we go again’.
“All of a sudden they go on this run and score goals for fun while across the city, everything is going wrong for Rangers.
“They now have the COVID situation but that’s football. Everyone has to deal with the ups and downs and Rangers are having to do it now.
“It’s going to be a really intriguing game at the weekend. I wouldn’t want to call it.
“I reckon Celtic are going in as favourites just because of their form but they didn’t win one last season.
“It will be interesting either way.”

Celtic failed to win an Old Firm last season, losing four times and drawing once.
Going into the game, both sides are level in the SPFL with two wins from three games.
