Everything Mikel Arteta said about Ben White after Arsenal injury blow vs Wolves – ‘Not good news’

Ben White has been left frustrated after picking up a new injury during Arsenal’s 2-1 win over Wolves on Saturday.

The full-back has only made a handful of starts for the Gunners this season, with Riccardo Calafiori starring for Arsenal in his place, and he could be sidelined yet again.

Arsenal are already without Gabriel Magalhaes, as well as Kai Havertz, but Gabriel Jesus has returned from the treatment room, making multiple appearances on and off the bench.

Thankfully, the Gunners managed to secure all three points without the defender, with own goals from Sam Johnstone and Yerson Mosquera sandwiching an equaliser from Tolo Arokodare.

Mikel Arteta fears the worst over Ben White injury

White lasted just 31 minutes before being replaced by Myles Lewis-Skelly, who has faced limited minutes in 2025-26, and Arteta has shared a view from behind the curtains after initial checks.

Speaking in his post-match press conference, the boss said: “We don’t know. We think he felt something in his hamstring, and we’ll have to wait and see the extent of his injury. Yeah, it’s not good news in that sense.”

The defender clearly pulled up while running back, holding his hamstring before being replaced, and Arteta clearly doesn’t have positive news regarding the situation.

While the Gunners have more than enough depth in the squad to cover for another long-term absence, the number of injuries is becoming extremely frustrating for the North London club.

White’s injury record extends further at Arsenal

It is safe to say that White has faced an abysmal last couple of seasons at the Emirates Stadium, having missed a total of 27 matches during the 2024-25 campaign.

The 28-year-old has just four Premier League starts to his name this term, and with three games already missed this season, it has got that little bit more frustrating for the full-back.

Arteta’s side have been flying, even without him in the squad, but he adds great depth to the defence, and can also charge forward down the right flank, adding to the attack as well.

Of course, Lewis-Skelly, who was on the end of Hwang Hee-Chan’s red-card challenge, can offer similar things going forward, but Arsenal fans absolutely love White, and it is easy to understand why.
