Everything Rangers fans need to know about Ryan Naderi’s debut vs Kilmarnock: Stats and reaction

Rangers continued their charge for the Scottish Premiership title on Wednesday as they breezed past Kilmarnock in a 5-1 win at Ibrox.

Mikey Moore will no doubt hit the headlines for his display against Killie as he picked up a goal and an assist.

In comparison, the less said about Thelo Aasgaard’s performance, the better, with the attacking midfielder offering little until he was taken off 60 minutes in.

However, one display Rangers fans will be keen to hear about is that of Ryan Naderi, who made a deadline day move to Ibrox on Monday.

What do the stats say about Ryan Naderi’s display vs Kilmarnock?

While Naderi did not start for Rangers, the former Hansa Rostock striker was brought on with 30 minutes to go.

Here, he managed to have an impact on the match, with the 22-year-old almost finding the back of the net late on.

According to Fotmob on 4 February, during his 30 minutes on the pitch, he had three shots, produced an xG of 0.25 and completed all but one of his passes.

However, many of these only tell half the story, with Naderi failing to find the target with any of his efforts, while also missing one big chance.

Nevertheless, while his attacking play was hit and miss, he did an impressive job defensively, completing three tackles and three recoveries during his time on the pitch.

Therefore, as long as his attacking game improves in front of goal, his stats would certainly be eye-catching.

What was the pundit reaction to Naderi’s display?

While Naderi had little time on the pitch to make an impression, he did impress some pundits.

One was former Rangers star Rory Loy, who was watching the game from BBC Sportsound.

When analysing the 22-year-old, the former striker was quick to hail Naderi’s desire on the pitch.

He said: “Naderi’s work rate is infectious. That’s about three times he has chased; his initial reaction is excellent, and it has kept attacks alive for Rangers.”

Hopefully, this is a sign of things to come for Naderi, and Rohl aims to end the Gers’ attacking problems once and for all as Rangers hunt for the Scottish Premiership title.

However, only time will tell if the striker is able to become a hit at Ibrox, or if he will be another flop attacker at the Old Firm side.
