Ex-Coventry manager installed as new favourite to be next Leicester City manager
Chris Coleman has emerged as the bookmakers’ leading contender to be Leicester’s next permanent manager after Marti Cifuentes was sacked.
Leicester‘s return to the Championship has not gone to plan at all so far after Cifuentes was hired as the man to get them back to the Premier League ahead of this season.
Football Insider revealed last month that Leicester were seriously considering sacking Cifuentes, but a three-match unbeaten run that followed, with wins against Derby and Ipswich, was enough to save his job.
The Foxes won just two of their next eight league matches, however, and Cifuentes was sacked on Sunday following a 2-1 home defeat to relegation-threatened Oxford United.
Club legend Andy King has been placed in temporary charge as their owners aim to appoint an experienced new manager soon, with Coleman emerging as a favourite to take over soon.
Coleman is the bookies’ favourite to be Leicester’s next permanent boss
Coleman has been in charge of numerous clubs and teams on these shores, including Fulham, Coventry, Wales and Sunderland, but has solely managed abroad since leaving the latter in 2018.
He most recently managed Greek club Asteras Tripolis, but was dismissed from his position on 14 January after just three wins from 15 games at the helm.
Football Insider revealed on Tuesday that Coleman is under consideration for the vacant Leicester job right now, as he is well-known to the club’s owners, having previously worked for their sister club OH Leuven.

The Foxes’ board believe that the 55-year-old could work well with King, due to their long-standing association together with Wales, and one of the UK’s leading bookmakers has now installed him as the new 2/1 favourite to be their next permanent boss.
Who else is in the running to be Leicester’s next manager?
Sources have also told Football Insider that Russell Martin is a candidate to manage Leicester next, and he is the current joint-second-favourite for the role at odds of 4/1.
Gary Rowett is priced at the same odds as Martin, despite recently being dismissed by Oxford with the club in the relegation zone.

Gary O’Neil was recently hired as Strasbourg’s new manager, but he comes in as one of the top contenders for the Leicester job, at odds of 5/1.
Lee Carsley (11/2), Ralph Hasenhuttl (17/2), Robbie Keane and Ange Postecoglou (both 9/1) are each also near the top of the bookies’ latest list.
