Ex-Fifa referee impressed by Klopp after analysing controversial new touchline Liverpool footage
The positives of Jurgen Klopp’s touchline antics at Liverpool far outweigh the negatives, according to Keith Hackett.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Fifa and Premier League referee insisted Klopp’s behaviour has helped establish himself alongside Bob Paisley and Bill Shankly as one of Liverpool’s all-time great managers.
Sky Sports released a video this week (October 8) of the German’s “best off-field moments”.
His antics have attracted criticism over the years with the biggest controversy coming when he ran on the pitch to celebrate with Alisson Becker during a Merseyside derby in December 2018.
Asked for his assessment of Klopp’s behaviour after analysing the footage with Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: “The technical area is here to stay.
“Managers have a job to do. He’s revered by the Liverpool fans, that’s based on his results, based on his courage, based on his team selection.

“He’s alongside Bill Shankly and Bob Paisley at Liverpool. That’s quite a task to get up there with the fans.
“Klopp is part of the entertainment. I criticise him when he steps out of turn. But against that, those are odd occasions with his passion on the line.
“The video says it all, really.”
Klopp has won four major honours in his six years in charge of Liverpool – including the club’s first-ever Premier League title in the 2019-20 campaign.
He has won 195 games of the 328 across all competitions he has overseen as boss of the Merseyside giants – a win percentage of 59.5 per cent.
The 54-year-old is under contract at Anfield until the summer of 2024.
