Former Gunner and Arsenal cult hero Ray Parlour gave his opinion on the antics of Alex Iwobi after images of the 21-year-old partying into the early hours of Saturday morning emerged.
The north Londoners were due to face Nottingham Forest in the FA Cup on Sunday afternoon and after being knocked out of the competition, it materialised that the attacker had been partying just 36-hours earlier.
And during the TalkSport breakfast show which Parlour was co-hosting with Alan Brazil on Tuesday morning, the ex-midfielder gave his opinion on the topic.
“He should know better,” said the Romford Pele and went on to say that Iwobi will most likely face a fine from the Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger.
The 21-year-old has played 19 times for the Gunners this season and has managed only one Premier League goal against Brighton and Hove Albion – poor stats by anyone’s standards.
And Iwobi could face instant punishment should the manager decide to axe him from the team’s League Cup semi-final showdown against Chelsea on Wednesday night.
The Frenchman has already admitted that the youngster will have his wages docked if he finds him guilty, and stated on BBC Sport that it was “unacceptable,” and “impossible” to go out within 48-hours of a match.
Arsenal then have a Premier League clash away at Bournemouth on Sunday in what is a must win game for the Gunners if they are going to maintain their push for the Champions League places.
Wenger needs all his players fully focused if they are going to attain any of their ambitions this season.
