Ex-Leeds United star issues 'certain' relegation claim after 'worrying' development

Leeds United will not be relegated this season despite Everton and Burnley climbing the table.

That’s according to former Whites stopper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about his former side’s chances of going down.

Leeds were held to a 0-0 draw by Crystal Palace on Monday night (25 April) to leave them five points ahead of Everton who occupy the final relegation place.

The Whites face Man City, Arsenal and Chelsea in their next three games.

17th-placed Burnley have won their last two games and are unbeaten since sacking Sean Dyche.

However, Kenny still insists Everton will be the team to go down.

“Burnley have such a knack of getting out of it,” Kenny told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“They do it every season and it seems like they are doing the same even without Dyche.

“I know Leeds have a hard run of games, real make or break games, but I worry for Everton.

“For me, it’s worrying for Everton, they are the ones who will go, I have said that for a while.

“That being said, Leeds can just think Everton won’t win. They have a hard run of game too but it’s not out of the question they could win.

“I’m certain Leeds will stay up, I’m confident saying that right now. Things can change, I know that.

“But I think Leeds will be fine, they have enough to grind out those results at Elland Road.”

Leeds next face Man City on Saturday (30 April).

They then travel to Arsenal the following Sunday (8 May).
