Ex-Leeds United star sends stern warning to club as Patrick Bamford image emerges
Leeds United should not risk Patrick Bamford’s fitness by rushing him back to first-team training.
That’s according to former Whites stopper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the striker’s fitness.
Leeds United announced on 27 March that Bamford has ruptured his plantar fascia after struggling with the foot injury throughout this season.
He was said to be set for six weeks on the sidelines, but, as quoted by BBC Sport West Yorkshire (April 9), the striker admitted he will “push to come back” if Leeds find themselves in relegation trouble.
This came before Leeds shared an image of the hitman working in the gym at Thorpe Arch on Wednesday (20 April).
Kenny has warned the club against rushing their star man back.
“It depends how bad he is,” Kenny told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“Would he like a couple of games before the end of the season? I would think so.
“If he should play is a different question altogether. I get him wanting to come back if Leeds are in trouble but I think they are safe now.
“If he isn’t going to be 100%, then don’t play him. It’s that simple.
“That being said, if he is ready to go and fully fit before the end of the season then I don’t see any harm in playing him.
“But don’t rush him back, that’s the last thing they should do.”

Bamford has made 10 appearances in all competitions this season.
He scored twice in the Premier League.
