Ex-manager can't believe what he has seen from Forshaw at Leeds
Alex McLeish has admitted he was stunned by Adam Forshaw’s age after watching Leeds United beat Crystal Palace 1-0 on Tuesday night.
The former Scotland manager, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, revealed he thought the 30-year-old was one of the “kids” at first before realising his mistake.
As quoted by Phil Hay after the game (30 November), Marcelo Bielsa singled out Forshaw for praise and revealed he did not expect his performance levels to be so high after returning from injury.
The former Middlesbrough midfielder was out for nearly two years with a hip problem.
McLeish was stunned by the Liverpool-born star’s energy and enthusiasm, admitting he thought Forshaw was one of the young Leeds stars.
McLeish told Football Insider’s Russell Edge: “I knew you would talk about Forshaw. He was a really effervescent character in the midfield last night.

“He was running everywhere, you could see the enthusiasm in him after coming back into the team.
“I never realised his age, I never thought to look it up. I just thought it was one of the kids Bielsa threw in.
“He was determined to make an impression. He ran around like a kid with his exuberance and his will to help the team. It was like Forshaw of 20 years ago.
“He was very effective, he did a lot of graft and helping the midfield. That’s a top addition to the Leeds midfield because he does things others don’t.”
Forshaw has started Leeds’ last four games in midfield.
He has made a total of nine appearances across all competitions since returning from injury.
