Ex-manager thrilled by ‘amazing’ West Ham plan after £43m double transfer reveal

Alex McLeish has heralded David Moyes as the driving force behind the “amazing” transfer strategy as West Ham this summer.

The former Rangers manager, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, suggested the Irons had “reinforced the foundations” with their business in the window.

The Irons announced the signing of Nikola Vlasic and Alex Kral, the latter on a loan-to-buy deal, on deadline day.

As revealed by Football Insider, West Ham have agreed a purchase fee of £17million for the Czech midfielder.

This site also detailed how Vlasic cost the Hammers £26million from Spartak Moscow.

The duo join Craig Dawson, Alphonse Areola and Kurt Zouma as the club’s senior signings of the summer.

McLeish admitted he was seriously impressed by the east Londoners’ transfer business.

“What they’re doing is reinforcing the foundations of the football club,” McLeish told Football Insider’s Russell Edge.

“It’s not to be a one-season wonder.

“What they’ve done is to try and show the rest of the Premier League that the reinforcements are here to make sure they’re a permanent club in the Premier League, unlike previous seasons.

“That is a great strategy, as far as I’m concerned. It looks like an amazing strategy.

“I’m sure Moyesy, David Moyes, would have been at the forefront of those kind of plans.

They have enjoyed an unbeaten start to the new Premier League campaign with two wins and a draw under their belt.
