Ex-Millwall defender who was sent off on debut has odds slashed to be next Celtic manager
Celtic continue to be linked with a whole host of managers as they prepare to make their next permanent appointment in the summer.
Martin O’Neill is currently in charge of the Bhoys until the end of the current campaign, as he is desperately trying to retain the club’s Scottish Premiership title for another season.
O’Neill has already suggested that he doesn’t want the Celtic job for any longer than his current remit, and that has prompted plenty of speculation as to who could be set to take over in recent weeks.
The board confirmed after they sacked Wilfried Nancy that they are hoping to take their time with their next appointment, to ensure that they can fully assess every possible option that is available for them.

Jens Berthel Askou edging towards Celtic appointment
Jens Berthel Askou has been linked with Celtic of late, amid an excellent debut campaign in charge of Motherwell.
The Danish boss has the Well flying high and sitting fourth in the Premiership at the moment, and they have currently lost just one game since the start of November in all competitions.
Berthel Askou’s stock is rising with every passing week at Dens Park, and that has seen him linked with plenty of other jobs recently.
The 43-year-old is in the frame among the leading contenders to potentially take charge at Celtic Park last season, and he has seen his odds to be appointed slashed dramatically on Wednesday.
Berthel Askou had been 12/1 for the Celtic job as of 21 January, but he is now being priced at just 6/1 by one major bookmaker.
That puts him up alongside the likes of Roberto Martinez and Shaun Maloney as one of the leading contenders for the position.

Berthel Askou’s current role at Motherwell is not his first foray into British football, as he previously enjoyed a brief stint at Norwich City during his playing career.
The former centre-back also had a loan spell with Millwall back in 2011, but he was shown a straight red card on his debut for the Lions against Leicester City, according to BBC Sport.
Jens Berthel Askou ‘ticks a lot of boxes’ for the Bhoys
Football Insider recently revealed that Berthel Askou is on Celtic’s radar as they continue to search for their next boss, and he “ticks a lot of boxes” in the eyes of the club hierarchy.
His aggressive and attacking style of football has seen him gain plenty of admirers away from Motherwell over the course of this season, not least at Celtic Park.
Celtic were keen to secure an up-and-coming young coach in the aftermath of Brendan Rodgers’ departure back in October, and Berthel Askou fits that profile perfectly if they decide to go down that route once again.
It is clear that his work at Motherwell so far this term certainly hasn’t gone unnoticed, and it could easily land him one of the biggest jobs in Scottish football for his next move.
