Ex-Premier League referee: Vieira may be set for FA action after Liverpool controversy
Keith Hackett has claimed Patrick Vieira may receive an FA warning after his comments following Crystal Palace’s 3-0 loss to Liverpool.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-FIFA and Premier League referee insisted Vieira is “on a tightrope” after he appeared to question the integrity of Premier League referees.
The Palace boss thought his side deserved a penalty when Konstantinos Tsimikas came together with Christian Benteke in the Liverpool box.
As quoted by football.london, Vieira claimed at Anfield “a lot of decisions will go their [Liverpool’s] way.”
He added: “I don’t know if this is the way it should be.”
“The thing that worried me about this was the post-match comments by Patrick Vieira,” Hackett told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.

“He’s got to be very careful because he’s questioning the integrity of match officials. He’s not being specific about this one but he’s implying it in his commentary.
“One suggests that hopefully, the FA are going to probably write him a letter saying he has to take a bit more care in what he’s saying.
“It’s easy to make those statements after losing a game but they are statements that are unacceptable because you are publicly questioning the integrity of referees.
“If the FA have listened in they have to send him a letter saying ‘Look, don’t cross that line’. He’s on a tightrope and he’ll fall off if he’s not careful or he’ll be pushed off by the FA.”
After seeing their early penalty call waved away, Crystal Palace fell to a 3-0 defeat at Anfield.
Liverpool scored all three goals as a result of set-pieces as they continued their unbeaten start to the season.
