Guardiola’s ‘crocodile tears’ slammed after report shines light on Aguero’s Man City exit – pundit

Frank McAvennie has slammed Pep Guardiola for how he has handled Sergio Aguero’s Manchester City exit.

The former West Ham hitman, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, is baffled as to why the striker is leaving City.

A Spanish source has told Football Insider that Barcelona are dead set on signing Aguero.

This site revealed on 30th March that the Spanish giants were in pole position to sign the Argentine when his contract expires next month.

After City’s 5-0 win over Everton on Sunday, in which he scored twice, Guardiola was reduced to tears when speaking about Aguero.

However, The Athletic claim Aguero is not happy that he had to leave this summer and is also annoyed with how his exit was handled.

“I can’t understand why Man City are letting Aguero go,” McAvennie told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“I know he’s a bit older but they have him there and he’s still scoring goals. If he’s good enough for Barcelona then surely he’s good enough for City.

“It’s very strange. Now they are saying they won’t give him a contract. If that’s true then Guardiola is talking crap.

“He’s crying saying he’s the best and all that, if you aren’t giving him a contract then you obviously don’t rate him that much.

“I don’t understand why because for me he was the best player in the Premier League for years.”

Aguero scored 260 goals in 389 games for the Manchester giants.

He leaves behind a remarkable legacy and will be honoured with a statue at The Etihad.
