'He has been exceptional' - Bruce praises Aston Villa summer signing
By Aramide Oladipo
Aston Villa manager Steve Bruce has heaped heavy praise on the club’s summer signing John Terry and branded the former England international as “terrific”.
The 36-year-old completed a permanent move to Villa Park on a free transfer from Premier League champions Chelsea during the summer transfer window.
Having spent his entire career playing in the top-flight of English football, Terry decided to take a step down and help Villa mount a serious promotion challenge this season.
The central defender has skipped the side throughout the campaign and he has completed 90 minutes in every single Championship match.
With Terry at the heart of the defence, Villa have managed to keep five clean sheets in their last six league matches.

Speaking to the Birmingham Mail, Bruce was quick to single out the defender’s influence around the club in recent weeks and praised him for his leadership skills.
“At Barnsley and Burton, John was fantastic,” he said.
“He is a natural leader and you don’t get many of them very often.
“The way he is playing at the moment has been terrific.
“Even he needed to play. He has not played a lot over the last two years. But the last few games he has been exceptional.”
Following a disappointing start to the campaign, Bruce’s men have started to perform well and they have managed to go eight league matches without a loss.
Villa currently sit in seventh position just one point below the playoff places behind Preston North End.
Terry is likely to captain the side once more as they travel to Molineux to face Wolves this weekend.
