Exclusive: Darren Bent thrilled as Leeds plot loan raid - 'That will be a massive statement'
Darren Bent was thrilled to hear that Leeds United were in pursuit of Sheffield United playmaker Luke Freeman.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Laura O’Leary, the former England striker believes that signing Freeman as well as Barnsley attacker Cauley Woodrow would see Leeds make a massive statement about their ambitions.
Football Insider recently revealed that the Whites are keeping tabs on Freeman with a view to a loan move in the current window.
Bent shared he thought Freeman would be a good signing as he’d be the perfect cover for Leeds’ most creative player Pablo Hernandez.
When asked if Freeman would be the perfect cover for Hernandez, Bent told Football Insider: “Yeah exactly.
“Pablo Hernandez is their most creative player and I think arguably Leeds and West Brom…I’ll probably give it to Leeds, they’re the best team in the division.

“If they can go and get Freeman as cover for Hernandez or to go in and play, you can ever have enough good players in your squad.
“If Leeds can get him and Woodrow over the line that will be a massive statement.
“But I’m all for both those signing, though more so Woodrow signing.”
The 27-year-old Blades midfielder has struggled to feature for Chris Wilder’s side this season with him only racking up 11 appearances so far.
Freeman joined Sheffield United from Queens Park Rangers in the summer after an impressive 2018/19 campaign.
Last season, the English playmaker scored nine goals as well as registered eight assists in the 48 outings he made for QPR.
