Alan Hutton claims that Celtic attacking midfielder Tom Rogic is facing an immediate axe from the starting XI after the end of Ryan Christie’s suspension from the side.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge, the former Aston Villa and Scotland international says that the 24-year-old is just a cut above his Australian teammate and that he should be put straight back in at his expense.
Christie has missed the Hoops’ last two domestic fixtures after picking up a straight red card against Livingston, although he scored and assisted in the club’s 2-1 win over Lazio in the Europa League.
With Aussie international Rogic having taken Christie’s place in the starting XI against both Ross County and Aberdeen, Hutton claims that the Scottish star is likely to be back in now he is available.
Hutton told Football Insider: “I think at the moment Christie is head and shoulders above playing in that position at the moment.
“The tackle was out character. From the ban, I think he’ll come straight back in and hit the ground running from where he left off. His confidence is high, he looks like a player who’s playing off confidence so I expect him to be straight back in.”
Rogic missed the start of the season as a result of a knee injury, meaning he has played just six times across all competitions for the Bhoys so far.
Christie meanwhile has emerged as one of Neil Lennon’s first-choice stars in the line-up, scoring 12 goals in his 20 appearances in both the league and cup games.
