Exclusive: Alex Bruce reveals what his Dad is looking for from 'Dangerous' Newcastle three men
Alex Bruce admits he was disappointed to see the Newcastle United players take their foot off the gas in the 3-2 win over West Brom.
The former defender and son of Newcastle boss Steve, speaking exclusively to Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge, revealed his father will be looking for the front three to replicate their “dangerous” midweek form.
A Miguel Almiron double helped the north east giants to a 3-0 lead at the Hawthorns, but two late goals made it a nervy finish for the travelling Toon Army.
Alex says he was mightily impressed with what he saw from the attacking options his dad has at his disposal but that the drop in performance was a blot on their copybook.
Alex told Football Insider: “They did very well, good performance. It was a little bit disappointing they took the foot off the pedal for the last 10 minutes or so.
“I think that sometimes when you’re a footballer and you’re 3-0 up in a game, it’s human nature to take your foot off the gas towards the end of the game, which was the only disappointment on the night.

“Other than that I thought they were excellent, the front three looked dangerous, they played well on the night and I’m sure my old man will be looking for them to carry on that form.”
Newcastle have been drawn at home to Manchester City in the quarter-finals, having beaten Rochdale, Oxford United and West Brom in the last rounds.
Their next game sees them travel to Southampton on Saturday, the Saints sitting one place and two points ahead of Bruce’s men.
In other Newcastle United news, a Football Insider source has reacted to claims of a “bust-up” at St James’ Park.
