Exclusive: Ange Postecoglou sack update from Tottenham tonight

Ange Postecoglou is not in immediate sack danger at Tottenham after the 6-3 home defeat against Liverpool on Sunday (22 December), sources have told Football Insider.

Pressure will continue to build while Spurs’ poor Premier League form continues – with the Lilywhites already losing eight of their 17 top-flight games this term.

But Postecoglou, 59, has the chance to end the club’s long-running trophy drought in the League Cup and Europa League in the 2024-25 campaign.

The Australian has been bullish in the media and will refuse to change his chaotic style of football despite grumblings from fans and pundits alike.

Supporters on social media called for Tottenham to sack Postecoglou in the aftermath of the 6-3 defeat on Sunday.

Sources say he still has the full support of key members in the Spurs boardroom – even with the club sitting 11th in the table after 17 Premier League games.

Postecoglou’s side have picked up seven points from their last five league fixtures but reached a two-legged League Cup semi-final by beating Man United 4-3 last week.

They will face Liverpool in two crunch games in January and February with the chance to reach a final against Arsenal or Newcastle.

Spurs face Nottingham Forest and Wolves in the next week before the transfer window opens on 1 January.
