Exclusive: Arsenal loanee duo set to complete permanent moves

Albert Sambi Lokonga and Nuno Tavares are both expected to complete permanent moves away from Arsenal this summer, sources have told Football Insider.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that both players have no future at Arsenal and look likely to remain at their current clubs beyond the end of the season.

Tavares has enjoyed a successful loan spell at Lazio, and is now expected to remain in Italy where he has established himself as a crucial player under Marco Baroni.

Meanwhile, Sevilla have begun exploring a permanent deal for Lokonga, who has spent three loan spells away from Arsenal since January 2023.

The Belgian midfielder had been earmarked for a sale following his return from Luton last summer, but could only agree to a short-term deal.

Multiple first-team stars to leave Arsenal after loan latest

Mikel Arteta is planning for a busy summer transfer window at the Emirates, with multiple incoming and outgoing deals being lined up in the closing stages of the season.

The arrival of Andrea Berta as the new sporting director has kickstarted their transfer plans as he is set to lead a recruitment drive in North London.

With the likes of Lokonga and Tavares expected to leave on permanent deals, the Gunners’ transfer kitty will be boosted and the wage budget freed.

Meanwhile, speculation is set to continue about the likes of Thomas Partey, Jorginho, Oleksandr Zinchenko, Reiss Nelson and Fabio Silva who could all leave.

As a result, Arteta and Berta are set to endure a busy summer window to re-organise their squad.

Crystal Palace make Jean-Philippe Mateta exit decision

While Arsenal are putting plans in place for players to leave the club in the summer transfer window, they are targeting a number of additions to strengthen their squad.

Former Man United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider on 10 April that Arsenal are interested in Jean-Philippe Mateta and have kept an eye on his performances for Crystal Palace.

However, as things stand they are set to prioritise alternative options after deciding against making an immediate move for the 27-year-old.

Meanwhile, Crystal Palace are planning contract talks with Mateta before the end of the season as they are reluctant to lose too many star players this summer.
